Chapter 11 Audiovisual Technologies

One type of traditional audio technology used in a classroom are audio cassette tapes. I would use them in my classroom for students that may have difficulty reading on their own or understanding what is being read. Cassette tapes can be used to listen to recorded stories, or also could use them to record other important audio. It would allow students to be able to listen to the cassette to help with an assignment and learn at their own pace. One type of emerging audio would be the internet radio. I would use internet radio in my classroom to listen to when students are working on assignments at their desks, for example when they are coloring or doing fun projects. For traditional visual print materials or VHS tapes are included. I would use these in my classroom by referring to a story or other activities we might be doing. It would allow students that are not the best at understanding readings to visually see what is occurring in the story. For emerging visual it would be document cameras. I would use document cameras in my classroom to show students what things look like up close, for example if we would do an experiment they could use it to look more in-depth.

Chapter 6 Digital Technologies in the Classroom

After reading chapter six, I would prefer to teach in a classroom with more technology. I think that technology brings a lot of positive feedback within the classroom. It would allow students with different learning skills to be able to find ways to learn to their best benefit. Computers bring a variety of learning tools such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and other  programs to allow students to be able to do work through that. I also find that the use of microphones could make learning exciting for the students. For example, I observe a first grade classroom and when they do class readings they use a microphone to allow every student the chance to read. By using the microphone it makes reading more exciting for the kids. I also think that other technology such as the smart boards can be very useful in a classroom. By using technology at a young age, it allows students to learn and be able to advance their knowledge with technology over the years.
